New patients at Omega Dental & Cosmetics

First appointments here run a full hour. That's long enough to examine properly, take the X-rays we need, and talk through what we find without anyone watching the clock. You'll leave knowing what's going on and what it would cost — not having agreed to anything.

What the first hour covers for new patients

A full examination of your teeth, gums, bite and the soft tissues of your mouth, including a check for anything that shouldn't be there. X-rays where we need to see between or below the teeth — not automatically, only where they'll tell us something. Photographs if they'll help you understand what we're describing. Then a conversation: what we found, what's urgent, what can reasonably be watched, and what each option would cost. If treatment is needed you'll get that in writing before anything is booked. Plenty of first appointments end with nothing needing doing at all.

If it's been a while

A lot of people walk in having avoided dentists for years, often because of something that happened a long time ago in a different chair. It's more common than you'd think and it isn't something we comment on — we're interested in where things are now, not how they got there. Tell us when you book that you're nervous and we'll plan the appointment around it. That might mean a first visit that's just a conversation and a look around with nothing done, going slowly with breaks whenever you want one, or sedation if that's what makes it possible. There's no version of this where you get lectured.

New patient appointment — $99, or gap free with health insurance

Your first visit is $99. If you have private health insurance with dental extras, it’s gap free — we bill your fund directly and there’s nothing to pay on the day.

That appointment includes:

  • A full examination
  • Any x-rays needed on the day
  • A scale, clean and polish
  • A written treatment plan and quote for anything we find

If you need treatment beyond that first visit, we quote it in writing before we start. Nothing goes ahead until you’ve seen what it costs.

Gap free applies where your fund covers these items and you have limits available.

You decide what happens next

Nothing gets done at a first appointment that you haven't agreed to. You'll hear what we found, what the options are including doing nothing for now, and what each would cost — and then you go home and think about it if you want to. Treatment that's genuinely urgent, we'll tell you plainly. Everything else can wait for you to decide.

What to bring

Medicare

Your Medicare card

First appointments aren't rushed, so don't book something tight afterwards.

Your first visit

01

Booking

Book online any time, or ring during opening hours if you'd rather talk to someone. Tell us at this point if you're nervous, if you're in pain, or if there's anything we should know before you arrive.

02

Arriving

Park free in the shopping centre car park — no time limit — and come in through the centre. There's step-free access the whole way. There's a short medical history form to complete when you get here, or we can email it beforehand if you'd rather do it at home.

03

The examination

Teeth, gums, bite and soft tissues, with X-rays where they're needed and photographs if they'll help. We'll explain what we're looking at as we go rather than narrating it to the ceiling.

04

Your plan

We talk through what we found and what the options are. If treatment is needed you get it in writing, itemised, with what's urgent and what can wait. Then it's your call.

How long is the first appointment?

An hour. That covers the examination, any X-rays, and time to talk properly about what we found.

The examination, clean and any X-rays are charged at the appointment at $99 for adults above 18. Anything beyond that gets quoted in writing first, and nothing is booked until you've agreed to it.

No. You can book directly for anything we do, including implants and sedation. If a case needs a specialist, we arrange that referral ourselves.

Say so when you book. Options range from simply going slowly with breaks, to happy gas, to oral or IV sedation. A first visit can also be a conversation and a look around with no treatment at all.

No, and it's very common. We want to know where things stand now so we can put a sensible plan together — urgent first, the rest staged. Nobody here is going to give you a hard time about it.

Yes, and it's usually easier that way. Ring rather than booking online if you want appointments back to back, and we'll line them up.
