Facial Cosmetics
Considered advice about the appearance of your skin and face, from a registered nurse at our Jordan Springs practice. Every visit begins with a conversation, and treatment is never assumed.
A conversation first
Your first appointment is an assessment, not a treatment. We ask what you would like to change and why, go through your medical history, and talk honestly about whether any treatment is right for you. Sometimes the most useful advice is that nothing needs to be done.
If an option involving a prescription medicine may be suitable, you will also have a consultation with a prescribing practitioner, who decides whether it is appropriate for you, before any treatment can go ahead.
What you can talk to us about
Lines with expression
Lines that form as the face moves, most often across the forehead, between the brows and at the corners of the eyes.
Changes in volume
Areas of the face that have lost fullness over time, such as the cheeks, the temples or around the mouth.
Skin quality
Changes in the texture, tone or firmness of the skin, and how to look after it.
Not every concern needs treatment, and some are better addressed in other ways. Your consultation covers every reasonable option, including leaving things as they are.

Before you decide
Every cosmetic procedure carries some risk. Depending on the treatment, this can include bruising, swelling, tenderness, asymmetry, infection and allergic reaction, and less commonly more serious complications. Results vary between people and generally fade over time, so ongoing cost is part of the decision.
Your practitioner will go through the specific risks, recovery time and costs of any option with you, and give them to you in writing. There is no need to decide on the day.
Cosmetic consultations are for adults aged 18 and over.
Questions

Is the first appointment a treatment?
No. It is an assessment and a conversation about your options.
What does it cost?
That depends on what, if anything, is recommended. You will receive costs in writing before any treatment.
Can I bring someone with me?
